Catherine Hansen-Stamp is an attorney in Golden, Colorado. For the last 25 years, her practice has focused solely on advising recreation, adventure and/or experiential program providers and related organizations on law, liability and risk management issues. Cathy speaks and writes frequently on these issues, both regionally and nationally. She has presented at the Annual Wilderness Risk Management Conference since its inception in 1994, and is currently on the Steering Committee. She co-authors articles regularly for American Camp Association’s CampLine with Reb Gregg. Cathy received her B.A. from Colorado College in 1981 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming in 1985. About Steve Smith – Experiential Consulting, LLC:
Since 2008, Steve Smith has provided risk management support to outdoor / experiential programs through his Seattle-based consulting company, Experiential Consulting, LLC. Steve has worked in the outdoor industry for over thirty years, including leadership roles at organizations such as Outward Bound and The Student Conservation Association. A regular speaker at national conferences, he served as the Chair of the Wilderness Risk Management Conference for three years. He volunteers on safety committees and accreditation committees for various organizations. Steve has been creating resources and webinars to support organizations through the pandemic, and there is a page devoted to COVID-19 on his company’s website, which you can find at www.outdoorrisk.com. He has a master’s degree in teaching English, along with years of university-level teaching experience, and earned a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the Society for Human Resources Management, all of which help him view outdoor education through a variety of educational and administrative lenses.
