Job Description:
Chinook Admin and Belonging Program Manager position at TEENS, Inc is an exciting opportunity to collaborate within various programs across TEENS, Inc.; both out of school activities and working with our alternative high school, Chinook West. The Program Manager will work directly with Chinook West youth in a supervisory role focused on building strong relationships and upholding high expectations. In addition, they will help carry out an exciting new “Belonging” program which brings urban and rural youth together to participate in outdoor leadership programming. This is a direct service position, meaning that the applicant should expect to be working directly with youth on average 30 hours per week.
Job Duties include the following:
Support students in Chinook West through advising, teaching elective classes (3 to 6 per year), helping prepare lunches, communicating with parents, and supporting field trips.
Manage delegated Chinook West admin tasks and plan community and service days for school.
Carry out outdoor activities and field trips for Chinook West High School students.
3-5 night outdoor trip in Fall
5 day winter sports program
5-7 night outdoor trip in Spring
Carry out Belonging program (total 0f 21 days, contact days May-August, 15-20 of which will be weekends), each item listed below will be carried out with 2 cohorts:
Orientation weekend – 2 days and 1 night
1 day service day with City of Denver Parks and Recreation
1 day of rock climbing
2 day WFA course
5 day trip to include front country camping
8 day trip with a combo of front country and backcountry experiences
2 day closing weekend and celebration
Support carrying out after school climbing programs in the Fall.
Support Teen Center 3 days a week (4-6pm).
Job Details:
32-36 hours with potential to go to full time (hours will be longer on trips and overtime will be paid)
Pay: $23-26/hr, plus great benefits including health, disability, holidays, and 401K with up to 3% match.
Position is based in Nederland, Colorado
Paid time off accruing at 1 hour per 25 hours worked
This is a direct service position
Qualifications:
At least 1 year previous leadership experience with youth
Ability to work collaboratively with co-leaders/workers
Exceptional organizational, leadership and communication skills
Willingness to submit a driving record and ability to drive a 15-passenger van.
High level of group management and facilitation skills
Risk management and decision making proficiency
Flexibility and adaptability
Effective and inclusive leadership skills
High capacity for communication and providing and accepting feedback

Ability to use challenges and experiences to foster learning among youth groups
Experience and excitement for working with youth in various settings and capacities
A strong sense of humor and desire to grow both personally and professionally
Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid Certification
Experience camping in a group setting and / or backpacking experience.
Interest and ability to be out on overnight trips roughly 30 nights a year
