The position serves as a senior member of the Department of Campus Recreation leadership team. The primary function of this position is to create, establish and maintain an outdoor recreation program for the Department of Campus Recreation. Outdoor Recreation will serve as a signature program within the department and contribute to student wellbeing. The incumbent will also manage the operation of the outdoor recreation program including promotion, registration, staffing, and risk management. This person will scout and secure various locations both locally and regionally such as lakes, rivers, hiking trails, bike trails, parks, etc. for programming efforts. This position will require an individual who is organized and forward-thinking in order to develop a yearly calendar of events to share with the campus community. While most trips will be funded by the department, the person in this role will be tasked with securing sponsors and holding fundraisers to offset costs. This position will also serve as the departmental safety manager and will work with community partners to ensure that all necessary staff are First Aid and CPR/AED certified. This person will also implement safety and risk management protocols, including evacuation and sheltering, and disseminate this information to all departmental staff.
Master’s degree in a related field and three or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Grade 6 (Salaried)
