Beacon search techniques have come a long way since the days of walking around with earphones trying to home in on a buried signal from an analog transceiver. As part of #TGRSafetyWeek, take a deeper dive with IPRW lead instructors Jim “Sarge” Conway and Jamie Weeks for a preview of a novel beacon search technique they’ve had a hand in developing with Backcountry Access over the last few years. Called the Parallel Group Search, it’s a method that instructors and guides have recently found effective in large-scale multiple burial scenarios when a group of searchers is available.
