Communications Manager
Description
The Communications Manager leads the outreach, marketing and public relations functions at Viristar, increasing brand awareness, brand perception, and business growth.
Job Responsibilities
- Design collateral such as brochures, flyers and fact sheets
- Design, create and distribute content on social media, e-newsletter, blog, and elsewhere
- Develop and maintain brand standards manual including messaging guidelines, brand and visual identity elements, and media templates
- Manage digital ads on platforms such as Google and Meta
- Manage Viristar social media accounts and YouTube channel
- Create basic video content; support other video projects
- Perform basic website management functions (e.g. basic SEO, blog posting, minor editing)
- Manage publication of textbooks in English and other languages
- Recruit and supervise contract communications specialists (e.g. graphic design, SEO) as needed
- Organize conference displays and presentations; staff conference booths
- Manage marketing articles such as apparel, patches and stickers
- Manage and improve ‘Viristar Partner’ affiliate marketing program
- Track communications performance and implement strategic improvements
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Technology
- Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop & Premiere Pro
- Expertise with Google Workspace and Google Analytics
- Expertise with WordPress CMS
- Experience with MailChimp or similar marketing platform
- Experience using CRM software
Communications skills
- Demonstrated expertise in professional writing, including command of syntax and grammar
- Strong professional background and proven track record in graphic design
- Professional experience in video production and editing
- Spoken communication and public speaking skills

- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to successfully work as team member, multi-task, and work independently
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, and remotely
- Capacity to handle innovation and ambiguity, as with start-up and young organizations

General qualifications
- Three years’ experience in communications or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, marketing or communications preferred
- Interest in outdoor, adventure, travel or experiential education fields preferred
- International cultural competence; professional experience in the international context preferred
- Experience managing contractors preferred
- Ability to travel to conferences and similar events in USA and, on occasion, abroad
- Training and certification in digital marketing, analytics, CRM, social media, digital advertising, or SEO viewed favorably
- Eligibility to work in the USA
Compensation
- Salary commensurate with experience; anticipated starting salary range US $45,000-55,000

Location: Remote, anywhere within the USA. Occasional (~5%) travel to US or international locations anticipated.
