Wyonegonic counselors live with campers in lakefront cabins in our beautiful Maine wilderness setting. They contribute to the happiness and confidence of campers as they act as positive role models, supervise, teach and encourage. Counselors also instruct in at least one activity area in our non-competitive camp program. Activities include High & Low Ropes, Climbing Wall, Sailing, Outdoor Living Skills, Canoe, SUP, Swimming, Archery, Riflery, Windsurfing, Creative Arts, Horseback Riding etc. Wyonegonic also hires aunts and uncles (non-cabin staff). Aunts and Uncles usually are activity supervisors or trip leaders, belonging to a unit and partaking in all special events, evening programs and unit activities. The teamwork and flexibility of all staff working together are what makes each summer a success.
Wyonegonic Camps provides and covers the cost for all necessary certifications and training. Ropes Course Instructors complete the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for Ropes Facilitator Training. All training also refers to American Camp Association (ACA) Accreditation Standards, Association for Challenge Course Technology Standards (ACCT), Professional Ropes Course Association (PRCA) and Maine State Licensing Regulations. Certification can be achieved as Level 1, Level 2, Course Manager and Course Administrator Director levels (documented experience and hours required for all levels above Level 1). The participants are awarded two year certifications for having successfully completed the training and assessment. Details on certification are on the Wyonegonic webpage https://wyonegonic.com/staff/certification-trainings/
