Job Description

Bond Park is looking for persons at least 18 years of age interested in facilitating low and high element ropes course programs. Job requires staff to work outside during all types of weather.  Facilitators can expect to work with people of all ages and abilities including and not limited to school groups, community organizations such as Boy Scouts, church groups and employees from corporate employers.

 Pay rate consummate with experience.

Additional work may be available supporting outdoor recreation programs, summer programs, events and boathouse operation. All new facilitators will be hired as a level 1, with opportunity to advance as skills/knowledge are demonstrated. Pay rate consummate with experience.

Typical Tasks

Present challenges and tasks to groups for the purpose of team development;

Recognize and manage safety aspects of the program and participants;

Facilitate learning points through group discussion;

Setup and take down the course;

Climb to heights of 45 feet;

Tie knots, work with rope, harnesses and other related safety equipment;

Assist with light maintenance and general upkeep of the course;

Assist with Rescues and emergency procedures;

Help with completion of rope logs and other documentation;

Assist with staff training as needed;

Lead Low course programs as needed;

Present the Group Welcome and Program Introduction;

Performs other job-related tasks as required.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written; have strong interpersonal skills; demonstrate the ability to talk to and engage large groups; display strong customer service skills; be able to ambulate independently over uneven terrain; be detail oriented; have a working knowledge of Challenge Course programs, typical clientele, facility and general operations including opening and closing the high course; demonstrate understanding of facilitation, progression, safety and participant management for a minimum of 10 low course initiatives and at least 4 portable/indoor initiatives; exhibit the ability to safely operate belay, harnessing, ground school, zip line, swing, leap of faith and ground assist rescues; show knowledge of emergency procedures including course evacuation in the event of adverse weather, active shooter procedures and participant or staff injury procedures; demonstrate the ability to tie a minimum of six knots; double figure eight on a bight, figure eight on a bight, back up knot, butterfly knot, and two others; know proper storage methods for equipment.
 

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs on a regular, recurring basis; and as much as 50 lbs occasionally, such as ropes, harnesses, and related equipment and supplies.  Must be able to climb to heights of 45 ft. and be able to balance on cables, swing on ropes, and climb a variety of ladders.

Applicants will be expected to learn how to tie a variety of knots, belay, put on harnesses and safety gear and other job related tasks.  First aid and CPR a plus.

Prefer facilitating experience on a Ropes Course or in Parks and Recreation.

Prefers knowledge equivalent to ACCT level 2.

Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.

Applicants should be able to work weekdays or weekends from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. year round including the school year with some occasional evenings.  We cannot guarantee hours or available programs.
