The High Sierra support staff team attends to the big and small details to ensure smooth, uninterrupted program operations. The Logistics Coordinator (LC) is a crucial member of that team and works under the direct supervision of the Associate Logistics Manager. This position is perfect for the detail-oriented individual who enjoys feeding people, seeing projects through to a thorough and timely completion and making things happen behind the scenes. The Logistics Coordinator directly manages the equipment, food, and transportation for courses 5-65 days in length.

Physical & Mental Requirements
- Sufficiently fit to participate in all site- and logistics-related course activities while maintaining ample energy, strength, and focus to aid students and instructors
- Able to carry weights of up to 60 pounds
- Can be on feet most days, sometimes for long hours early or late in the day
- Able to maintain composure, exercise sound judgment and decision-making, and assess and mitigate risk under extended periods of stress
- Able to operate a vehicle for 8-10 hours a day

- Are 21 years of age or older
- Have held a current United States Driver License for at least three years and possess a clean Motor Vehicle Record
Required Upon Hire
- Willing to authorize a federal background check, MVR check, Live Scan background check, and provide current negative TB test results upon hire (cost of all screening paid for or reimbursed by OBCA)
- Willing to acquire California Class C Commercial Driving License upon hire with assistance from supervisor
- Hold or willing to obtain a current Standard First Aid (8-hour training), CPR, and California Food Handler certifications

- Able to perform basic equipment repair
- Comfortable driving trailer up to 12 feet in length
- Hold a current Wilderness First Responder certification

Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the Outward Bound mission and educational framework through all food, gear and transportation logistics for several courses in the field at once
- Coordinate the issue, de-issue, and maintenance of the High Sierra program outdoor equipment, including gear repair, laundry, and inventory management
- Assist in the basic maintenance and upkeep of base facilities; provide kitchen support as needed or assigned
- Transport instructional staff and supplies to and from course functions and support field evacuation transportation needsMaintain an excellent driving record
- Perform routine vehicle inspections
- Take regular inventory of food and equipment, and support in end-of-season inventory
- Consistently strive to give and receive quality feedback with colleagues and supervisor
- Use appropriate language and behavior while acting as a role model for students
- Participate in all required trainings
Compensation & Schedule
- This is a Seasonal, Exempt position
- Starting Per Diem wage is $120/day
- Room and board provided while on contract
- Training begins during second week of May
- Contracted to work 50 – 70 days per season, June through September

- This position is located at our High Sierra program base in Midpines, California, in the Sierra Nevada foothills 30 miles east of Yosemite National Park
- The basecamp has a main building with office, warehouse, and commercial kitchen. Other buildings throughout include administrative and field staff housing and communal areas
