The Site Director is responsible for organizing the experience for the 7,000 annual participants to the program. The position includes hiring, training, supervising and mentoring up to 50 seasonal staff. The Site Director ensures that excellent customer service and an overall quality experience are provided for each group that participates in the program. The Site Director actively runs camp operations including bus driving, directing meals, directing camp cleaning, and managing emergency situations. The Site Director is a member of the Orkila management team and works with other on-site managers to ensure the successful operation of all camp programming. This position reports to the Senior Director of Education and Family Programs and they work together in school planning, departmental budgeting, and school recruitment. The Site Director will work closely with the Director of Conference and Retreats to ensure weekend staffing and programming needs are met. In the summer, the position manages Day Camp orchestration and assists with overnight camp transportation; working in concert with the Seattle registration office. All full-time management staff at Orkila work with volunteers in the Annual Campaign to raise scholarship dollars for camp. Additional responsibilities include; maintaining current partnerships within the local community, high level management of both the Garden and Marine Center.
The ideal Site Director is familiar with Orkila and the OEE program. An undergraduate degree and 2 years relevant experience is required. Applicants need demonstrated strong organizational and management skills. Experience with Microsoft Office is required. The ability to obtain a CDL and drive buses is required. The ideal applicant has a passion for Outdoor Environmental Education, experience in BEETLES and SEL curriculum and a high level of cultural competency to ensure quality and culturally appropriate programs are delivered to the diverse groups that attend Orkila.
