Sierra Nevada Journeys is hiring for Outdoor Science Core Educator with our Classrooms Unleashed program. Get hands-on training in December, 2021, using the best practices from the University of California at Berkeley’s BEETLES (Better Environmental Education, Teaching, Learning & Expertise Sharing) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Then, immediately following winter break, you’ll get to teach science education and outdoor learning in a variety of settings including in the classroom setting and outdoors on field days at local nature areas. You will also lead family and community engagement events, Family STEM Nights, as well as virtual lessons through videoconferences. Programs are grade-level designed for students first through eighth grade. This is an opportunity to get away from the typical classroom setting and mentor youth in new and different environments. Our students span a variety of communities; some come from schools and communities where they’ve been denied access to high-quality STEM opportunities.
When you join our team, you can expect to be part of an inclusive, innovative and equity-focused community. Read more about our Diversity and Inclusion work at sierranevadajourneys.org/equity-and-inclusion.
