The Montana Conservation Corps (MCC) is currently accepting applications for Women’s Fuels and Fire Leader positions! Here at MCC, we focus on the growth of our participants, positively impacting our climate and environment, and transferable job skills. Our crew leaders go through a leadership development program crafted over two decades to enhance their confidence, resilience, and technical capabilities. This crew, for women identifying participants only, will work with the Wyoming Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for the majority of the season. Work will primarily consist of wildland fuels mitigation projects with an emphasis on chainsaw use. Participants will receive basic wildland fire qualifications including a nationally recognized chainsaw certification, basic wildland firefighting classes (S130, S190), in addition to having an opportunity to receive a wildland fire red card. There may be opportunities to deploy on fire assignments AFTER the term of service ends. This is a great opportunity to get exposure to the world of wildland fire, and provides an excellent stepping stone for future career opportunities. If you are looking for something unique, want to address urgent climate change issues, and want to make a positive impact on the environment, then this is the perfect opportunity for you!
