Job Description

As an Environmental Education Outreach Instructor in the Beyond the Bell Program you would be part of an inclusive and collaborative team working to provide quality programming to a diverse student population in the areas of natural science, outdoor skills, environmental stewardship and social awareness. Educators will typically work independently from 3:00-6:00 pm Monday-Thursday running after school programing at a Tacoma Elementary School. Educators teach classes ranging from squid dissection, geology, ornithology, reptiles, sustainable systems, teambuilding, orienteering, and many more.  Training provided.

 

Availability:  $18 per hour starting.  Paid trainings.  Monday through Thursday afterschool 3pm - 6pm.  Program ends June 10th, 2022.  Off for spring break April 4th - 8th.  Qualifications: Staff model the YMCA core values of respect, caring, honesty and responsibility. We seek individuals dedicated to providing today’s youth with positive, outdoor experiences. Required qualifications include a displayed ability to maintain a positive work attitude, experience working with children, and a First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Favorable qualifications include education and environmental science majors.  Paid internships available too! Paid training is provided in aspects of the curriculum and program activities.
