Job Description

Resilience Paddlesports is hiring lead paddling instructors and qualified assistant instructors to teach classes and tours for adults and/or work with our youth program team on the Hudson River.  Seasonal full-time and part-time positions are available. All lead guides must have ACA or BCU and CPR certification.  Not certified yet?  No worries! We can help qualified staff get certification prior to or during the season. We want to help paddlers develop. We provide training for assistant instructors working towards certification.  We are also looking for youth educators to teach paddling skills and lead environmental activities for youth ages 8 – 15.  If you are passionate about urban ecology and conservation, like to paddle and enjoy working with youth, we need you!

Positions available:

  • Lead & Assistant Kayak Instructors/Guides ($15 – $20 per hr. – starting)
  • Lead & Assistant Stand Up Paddleboard Instructors/Guides ($15 – $20 per hr.)
  • Youth Paddling Assistant Instructors ($13-15 per hour)
  • Youth Environmental Educators ($13-15 per hour)
  • Summer Interns ($500 stipend with extra paid hours possible – $10 per hr)

Requirements:

  • Lead Instructors/Guides must be over 18 & certified through ACA or BCU
  • Assistant Instructors must be over 18 & have prior paddling experience and be willing to be trained to ACA standard for skills and safety
  • Youth Instructors must have prior experience working with youth and be passionate about environmental conservation as well as paddling
  • Must be available for staff training days (several dates avail in May and June)
  • Interns should be high school students or recent grads interested in conservation, water quality, citizen science, learning to paddle & working with urban youth
  • Youth instructors must be avail weekdays (Youth programs take place weekdays only, mid-June through Aug)
  • Lead & Assistant Guides must be available weekends & evenings
  • All staff must share our passion for protecting the Hudson River Estuary and educating the public about this amazing natural resource.
