TreePeople is an environmental nonprofit organization that mobilizes individuals, families, communities, philanthropists, and public agencies to work together to create green, resilient communities by providing education on the benefits of planting trees, capturing the rainwater, greening schools, and providing fun environmental educational activities. TreePeople is also dedicated to preserving the natural and cultural resources of Southern California through habitat restoration, land acquisition and conservation easements through the TreePeople Land Trust.
We are seeking a Native Garden Kit Program Manager to join our team. This position will develop and manage the newly-formed Native Garden Kit program, which will provide the public with an accessible, well-informed opportunity to convert from water-intensive non-native landscaping to native scaping within the Los Angeles area. This program will help residents reduce water usage, increase biodiversity, and support native plant nurseries across Southern California. This will include partnership development with local water districts, public agencies, and nurseries to leverage resources such as rebates, plant material, and communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and refine the Native Garden Kit program through its pilot and early implementation phases.
- Manage the online point of sales (POS) system and program-specific webpage to guide interested community members toward the programs.
- Support integration of the Native Garden Kit program with the Dashboard Earth team and app.
- Develop and manage relationships with native nurseries.
- Coordinate sales, marketing, reporting, and native plant pick-up events associated with program implementation.
- Oversee program finances with regular reporting to project funders.
- Maintain communication with TreePeople’s Marketing and Communications team to ensure the program is promoted across organizational channels.
- Develop relationships with water districts, public agencies, and local governments to join the California Native Garden Kit program
- Participate and represent TreePeople at meetings, fundraising, marketing, membership, and volunteer events as needed.
- Drive a truck to pick up plants as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Business acumen and experience.

- Strong leadership, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized, friendly, smart, proactive, and a quick learner.
- Knowledge/interest in CA native plants.
- Spanish fluency is preferred.
- Valid CA Driver’s license and clean driving record desired to perform job-related essential functions.
- Requires heavy lifting over 25 lbs., often combined with bending, twisting, or working on irregular surfaces, and occasionally requires extraordinary physical activity.
- Available to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends.
