Position Summary

The Southwest Program Warehouse Manager works within the Program Leadership Team to provide support to the warehouse and logistics systems at the program. The Warehouse Manager is an entry level position with supervisory responsibilities in the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, including general warehouse and course-related resource management, organization, inventory, repair, and cleaning. The Warehouse Manager will also provide support with logistics training, mentoring of staff, as well as oversight of Logistics Coordinators.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

• Serves as a collaborative and active member of the Southwest Program Leadership Team to ensure high quality logistical support for all our courses and students.
• Maintains warehouse systems to ensure easy packing, cleaning, repairing, and inventorying of gear, food, and supplies.
• Develops and manages Logistics Coordinators through active coaching/mentoring and utilization of organizational performance and goals documents.
• Under the direction of the Associate Program Director of Logistics, oversees development and implementation of logistics training and continued performance management of logistics staff.
• Facilitates warehouse meetings and resource allocation as requested.
• Participates in refining efficient, comprehensive tools for course support responsibilities.
• Upholds and follows all policies and procedures.

Equipment & Food Systems

• Supports and orients new and returning staff to warehouse and logistics procedures to ensure accurate quantities of food and equipment for each course.
• Assists with maintaining food service compliance and ensures safe, healthy, efficient, and clean warehouse practices.
• Manages, assists with, and reports on inventories of food, gear, supplies, and first aid.
• Assists with local food and gear procurement as requested.
• Oversees weekly vehicle checks and reports maintenance and monthly mileage.
• Advises and oversees gear repair and provides information to logistics team on equipment conditions and needs.
• Oversees warehouse cleanliness and food room re-stock prior to courses packing out.
• Assists with pre-season and post-season preparation, inventories, and warehouse shutdown.
• Tracks incoming invoices and receipts for food and gear purchases.

Community Building

• Models and promotes a positive and inclusive community culture.
• Assists with basecamp upkeep, standards, and systems, including shared oversight of staff housing.
• Assists in planning and executing Southwest Program events and celebrations.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists with other support duties including but not limited to transporting students, food shopping, food and gear packing, gear repairs.
• Fills in for Logistics Coordinator course support responsibilities as needed.
• Participates in the Logistics Coordinator on-call system as assigned and responds to field emergencies as needed.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

• Excellent driving skills and record. Experience in large vehicles with trailers preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with outdoor recreation and adventure education programs preferred.

Work Experience

• 2-3 years of experience in the outdoor education/ experiential learning field or any other similar combination.
• Wilderness First Aid and CPR certification.
• Must have held a driver’s license for over 5 years.
• Utah Food Handlers Certificate acquired before starting position.
• Mental health first Aid Certification.

Physical Requirements 

• Based in Moab with some travel to other sites and locations as required.
• Expect to work 5 days/week with work and on-call duties over weekends and/or holidays as needed.
• Sitting at a desk or computer approximately 60% of the time.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Occasionally works in outdoor  weather conditions, including inclement conditions such as high heat, rain, mud, snow and cold.
• Ability to bend, lift, kneel, crawl, and carry up to 50lbs.

Compensation and Benefits

• Compensation: Daily rate $120.
• 8-month position (February through September).
• Optional on-site housing available.
• 56 hours of paid Sick Leave.
• Prodeal eligible.
