Job Description: The Education Coordinator will support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of school-year programming for 4th-8th grade students and paid internships for teens. Some specific responsibilities include registering teachers for school-year programs, communicating with staff from partner agencies and organizations, and processing student evaluations.
The successful Education Coordinator will demonstrate a passion for helping young people — especially those from communities that are underrepresented in environmental fields and/or new to environmental topics — make personal positive connections with nature. This position is ideal for an outgoing individual who demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and time management. Candidates should enjoy working collaboratively, thrive working outdoors and in an office, and have a background in education. Applicants may have experience organizing educational events, facilitating projects with several partners, creating and managing project timelines, or leading groups of students in outdoor settings.

The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust works to steward a landscape that stretches 100 miles from the shores of Puget Sound, across the Cascade Mountains, to Central Washington. The Greenway Trust also coordinates the Mountains to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area (NHA), which honors the historical and cultural significance of this place and helps to preserve and celebrate its living heritage. The Education Program contributes to the goals of the NHA by engaging 4th-12th grade students in meaningful environmental education programming that equips them with knowledge, skills and inspiration that may lead them to future careers in conservation.
Reports to: Education Program Manager
Salary & Benefits: $46,000 to $53,000 annually. The Greenway Trust offers a generous benefits package to our employees including an employer-sponsored medical, dental and vision plan, paid vacation and sick leave, retirement plan and more.
Schedule: Full-time non-exempt position. The schedule is typically Monday to Friday with periodic evening and weekend events. Estimated 50/50 office/field time.
Location: The Greenway Trust has a hybrid model that combines both remote and in-person work. This position will be based at the Greenway Trust’s Seattle office (2701 First Ave, Suite 240, Seattle, WA 98121) with the expectation of a schedule of both in-office and remote workdays. This position requires reliable personal transportation to schools and field trip sites around King County as well as the Greenway Trust’s field office at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, WA.
Equipment: The Greenway Trust provides a work laptop computer and cell phone to employees. The Education Coordinator will have access to a Greenway vehicle for work purposes; a valid driver’s license, insurable driving record, and completion of internal training is required to use any Greenway vehicle.
COVID Requirements: Vaccination requirements are in place for Greenway Trust staff and volunteers.
