Crew leader positions are open within our youth program! Our programs provide young adults (11-18) with the opportunities and tools to build strong bonds with community, increase academic success, and encourage healthy and productive lifestyles. The education component of Youth Corps consists of career development, leadership skills, environmental education, personal growth, drug and alcohol awareness, and civic and social responsibility. Youth Corp Leaders will mentor and serve alongside a crew of 8-10 corps members in all day-to-day activities, on the project site and around camp, transport crews safely in a 12/15-passenger vans, co-facilitate educational and recreational activities, and support the physical and emotional wellbeing of the team.
We have three basic crew models:
On any given day, an RMYC crew can be found digging new trails, building water bars, constructing trail reroutes, deconstructing old fence lines, reconstructing fence lines, rehabilitating stream habitats, and much more. On an RMYC crew, you can expect to spend 99.9% of your time outside. You will work outdoors in varied weather conditions and spend your nights sleeping in a tent. Crews run from early June to mid-August.
During the month of September, RMYC hosts the Yampa Valley Science School which incorporates a 4-day, 1-night science curriculum integrated with 6th grade academic standards, team building activities, and personal growth experiences for the students.
Spending a season with RMYC can be a life-changing and rewarding experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to service, diversity, self-development, and the team environment.
