POSITION SUMMARY: The Program Assistant ensures programs at camp run smoothly and facilitates and supports special programs at camp, such as evening activities, theme days, and camper free/choice times.
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
With guidance of the Assistant Director of Camp Programs, plan, prepare supplies, and facilitate safe, high quality, engaging all camp activities at camp.
Step in as a substitute for absent staff in providing safe, high quality, engaging activities which meet PEAK Program Quality Standards.
Complete participation notes and attendance notes for campers.
Cover supervision of cabins and groups of campers as needed to support counselors and program instructors.
As a member of the LVC Leadership Team, you will participate in regular meetings to provide updates and strategize to help our camp community be the best it can be. You will be responsible for some evening/overnight shifts as Supervisor-on-Duty. You will consistently act as a positive role model for our community and your actions and decisions should reflect that expectation.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is compensated at a rate of $800 per week, pre-tax. If this person is also a certified lifeguard, they will receive a $50 weekly lifeguard bonus during weeks worked, pre-tax.
Our summer seasonal staff are paid on a bi-weekly basis and are classified as exempt, seasonal employees.

Able to facilitate activities to large groups (60+) of youth, sometimes with just minutes notice.
Camp requires flexibility, creativity, and the ability to focus on the campers’ experiences.
Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
The ability to group manage in developmentally appropriate ways with young people and adults across a wide age spectrum.
Calm under duress and able to make critical decisions in a quick and logical manner to minimize risk and to ensure safety and well-being of participants and staff.
REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS
Must be able to reside on the LVC resident camp property in Boscobel, WI starting with three weeks of staff training in June and ending after the last camp program lets out in mid-August.
Ability to live in shared housing with other staff and be “on duty” 24/7
Current age-appropriate CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification (PEAK will offer during staff training)
Lifeguard Certification (PEAK can support in attaining) preferred, but not required
Must be at least 18 and/or have a high school diploma or GED to apply.
Valid Driver’s License required
REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS
The Program Assistant will report to the Assistant Director of Camp Programs & Expeditions
The Program Assistant will provide support to Program Instructors, Counselors, and LT Interns
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
The camp environment is often hot or rainy. You must be able to work outside for sustained periods of time without air conditioning.
Position requires standing, stooping, sitting, and walking long distances in hilly terrain.
Position requires working weekends and nights, with time off in between camp sessions. Camp days are often long and at times require late night camper support. Staff will have daily scheduled breaks.
Ability to react quickly to emergency situations with quick movements or strenuous action, to ensure the safety of campers and other staff members.
