Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is looking for individuals who are excited to share their enthusiasm for the outdoors with the wider community as Recreation Program Instructors. Ideal candidates have leadership experience working with youth in outdoor settings, can lead a variety of technical outdoor skills, and share our passion for experimental education for teaching and learning. This position will develop and implement lesson plans and instruct all or some of the following activities: canoeing, kayaking, fire building, survival skills, challenge course, team building, nature, fishing, orienteering, and archery. They will be responsible for group and time management during lessons for camps and programs.
This position is open for Seasonal Full-time and Temporary Part-Time employment for our summer programs, events, and camps. Seasonal positions will work up to 40 hours a week not to exceed 5 months and 29 days. Temporary Part-time positions will work 20 hours a week not to exceed 1000 hours in a year. This is a non-benefited position. Training can begin in April, but the majority of hours will not begin until May/June.
